How to Configure and Access Channel Scanning

How to Configure and Access Channel Scanning

Overview:

Channel scanning is included in the "Scan and Override" add on feature. This article reviews how to configure channels scanning for users, as well as how to access channel scanning from Relay Dash, the Relay Pro App, and a Relay device.

Environment:

  1. Dash / Relay Pro App
  2. Relay Devices

How to Set up Channel Scanning:

Channel scanning for both device, or dash/app users is configured the same way.
Warning
In order to leverage channel scanning, users cannot have a home channel assigned. To remove a home channel configuration, navigate the the user > Set Home Channel > No Home Channel.
  1. Log into dash.relaypro.com
  2. Under Account, click Users
  3. Click into the specific user you want to configure
  4. Click Channel Scanning
  5. Configure three things:
    • Channels: check which channels this user should scan
    • Priority order: drag to order channels (highest priority “wins” if multiple channels talk at once)
    • Transmission mode (Transmission Lock):
      • ON = while scanning, the user’s outgoing messages will stay locked to the highest-priority channel
      • OFF = while scanning, if the user talks, the user transmits on the most recent channel they heard (more dynamic, for someone actively participating across channels)

How to Access Channel Scanning:

  • Device: a “Scanner” channel appears that the user can switch to; the screen shows a scanning icon, and the active/heard channel name
  • App: “Scanner” appears at the bottom of the channel list; the PTT shows which channel you’re about to talk on
  • Dash: Bottom right channel selector → “Scanner"
