How to Rename a Relay or User in Dash

How to Rename a Relay or User in Dash

Objective

  1. To better understand how to rename Users and Devices in Dash individually and in bulk

Environment / Applies To

  1. Relay Dash
  2. Relay Virtual Users with Edit Permissions

Procedure

Renaming a Relay or user in Dash is a simple process that can help personalize your fleet to it's users or to mark certain devices as belonging to certain groups. For instance, Relays can be renamed as Housekeeping 1, Housekeeping 2, Housekeeping 3, etc. to denote them belonging to a team. Likewise, they can be named John Doe, Jane Doe, etc. to denote who is using the Relays.

Relays can be renamed a few different ways. Individual Relays may be renamed or a group of Relays.

How To Rename Individual Relays or Users

  1. Log in to Dash at dash.relaypro.com
  2. Click Account
  3. Click Users
  4. Select the Relay or User you'd like to rename
  5. Under Settings, click Rename User
  6. Enter the new name for the Device or User
  7. Click Submit
    1. Please Note: You are not able to name multiple devices the same name, or name a device the name of a group. You can however use a number designation to differentiate between two devices (i.e. "security 1" and "security 2").

How to Bulk Rename Relays or Users

  1. Log in to Dash at dash.relaypro.com
  2. Navigate to the Search Bar, then click the Actions Tab
  3. Type Bulk in the search bar
  4. Click Bulk Rename
  5. Type in the naming convention
    1. Please Note: This prefix must be unique as it will automatically number those devices. If the prefix and number match another Relay, this will error out and not rename your devices.
  6. Choose the Devices or the Group you'd like to rename
  7.  Click Submit
  8. A preview will show the new naming conventions, click Confirm Rename. If you need to adjust users / devices being renamed, click Repick Users.
