Panic Alert Configurations, Roles, and Permissions
Overview
Relay Panic Alerts can be configured in two ways; using our standard configuration or using advanced responder groups. Below is a summary of each configuration, as well as the various roles and permissions as it pertains to hardware users, Dash admins, and Dash users.
IMPORTANT
Only Relay Customer Success Representatives and Relay Support Team Members are capable of setting up or changing your panic configuration type.
Standard Panic Configuration and Permissions
Most Relay customers utilize our standard panic configuration in order simplify their alert management process and permissions. The standard configuration establishes a single group of responders. Users identified as responders in the standard configuration will be:
- Notified of a panic incident when it is initiated
- Able to acknowledge an incident
- Able to communicate during the incident with other responders and the initiator (if configured)
- Able to resolve an incident if they are a Dash admin or user
In addition to users in the responder's group, all Dash admins and users have the ability to view and resolve incidents, but only those users within the responders group will be able to perform the other actions.
NOTEDash admins have the ability to change the members of the responders group at any time.
Advanced Responder Groups
Advanced responder groups are a way to have more control over which users are notified of an incident, able to communicate during an incident, and respond to or resolve an incident. There are three types of advanced responder groups:
- Notifiers - These users will only receive a notification when a panic alert is initiated and when it is resolved
- Notifiers will not be included in communications nor will they receive location updates during an active incident
- Tapping the talk/main button on a notifier's Relay will silence their notification of an incident
- There can be an unlimited number of notifiers for any panic configuration
- Communicators - These users will receive a notification when a panic alert is initiated and will be brought into the communications channel for that incident.
- Communicators will not be able to acknowledge an incident and will only be brought into the communications channel after a Responder has acknowledged the incident
- Communicators will receive location updates during an active incident
- Tapping the talk/main button on a communicator's Relay will silence their notification of an incident
- Each panic configuration is limited to 10 communicators
- Responders - These users will receive a notification when a panic alert is initiated, will be able to acknowledge the alert, and will be brought into the communications channel for that incident.
- Responders will receive location updates during an active incident
- If a Responder is a virtual user with access to Relay Dash and the Relay Pro App, they will also be able to resolve incidents
- Each panic configuration is limited to 100 responders

*Only Dash admins and users that are also included in the Responder group are able to resolve panic alerts. Hardware users can not resolve panic alerts.
NOTE
- If a user is included in multiple groups, they will inherit the permissions of the group with the highest level of permissions in the following order: notifiers > communicators > responders
- Dash admins and users must be included in the responders group in order to acknowledge or resolve an incident. If they are not include in any group, they will not be alerted of an incident and will not see incidents in the Active Incident screen.
- Dash admins have the ability to change the members of any group at any time
