How to Change the Channel of a Relay

Objective

  1. To better understand how to change the channel of a Relay from Dash and on a Device

Environment / Applies To

Procedure

Changing a Relay's Channel on a Relay+ Device 

  1. Press and hold the Relay Assistant button and say "switch to {name of a channel}"  When switching channels, it is important to use additional context such as "Switch to Security" or "Security Channel" rather than just saying the channel name (Security). 
  2. The device will state the channel name to confirm it has switched channels

Changing a Relay's Channel on a RelayX or RelayM Device

Changing a RelayX or RelayM Channel with the Relay Assistant 

  1. Press and hold the Relay Assistant button and say "switch to {name of a channel}"  When switching channels, it is important to use additional context such as "Switch to Security" or "Security Channel" rather than just saying the channel name (Security). 
  2. Switched channels will display on the screen

Changing a RelayX or RelayM Channel via Screen

  1. Continue tapping the Relay Assistant button to cycle through all of the channels that your Relay is a member of
  2. Alternative: Press and hold the Relay Assistant button, say the name of the channel you'd like to switch to, then release the button

Changing a Relay's Channel in Dash

  1. Log in to Dash at dash.relaypro.com
  2. Click Account 
  3. Click Users
  4. Select the Relay that you would like to change the channel
    1. Note: This cannot be done for virtual devices (App and Dash profiles). This can only be done for hardware Relays
  5. Click Change Channel
  6. Choose the Channel you are changing the device to
    1. Note: If you wish to summon all channel members to that channel, click Summon Channel Members 
  7. The Relay will switch to that channel
  8. The Relay will also announce that it has switched channels to let the user know
Please Note: If the Relay Device has a home channel, it will automatically switch to that channel after 60 seconds of inactivity.
